Barton on Sea is a stony beach with sandy areas as the tide goes out. The cliffs at Barton on Sea are subject to considerable erosion and at times parts of the western beach and undercliff can be cordoned off. A large part of the beach has been lost to coastal defences.

Local info: wide stretches of grassland on the cliffs with views of the Isle of Wight and the Needles make the coastline ideal for walkers also Barton on Sea is well known for fossil remains and its beautiful (but breezy) cliff top golf course.

On the clifftop is a cafe, restaurant and a newsagent. The Beachcomber Cafe is one of the most popular cafes in the region.

Parking: There are 3 car parks along the clifftop as well as on-road parking.

Bus: The number X1 Wilts&Dorset from Lymington to Bournemouth stops by the cafe at Barton on Sea.
