Freshwater
Bay is a beautiful small cove with a sand and stony
beach surrounded by steep chalk cliffs. The beach
will appeal to those who would prefer a quieter beach
in a picturesque surrounding.

Bay Tea Rooms is across the road from the beach, there
is also a small shop selling confectionary, second-hand
books and ice-creams and a restaurant in the Albion
Hotel with sea views.
Freshwater Bay is also a good starting point for
some excellent coastal and inland walks. It was
the home of poet laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson
and Victorian portrait photographer Julia Margaret
Cameron.
Parking: There is a
large car park close to the beach.
Ferry: The
Lymington to Yarmouth passenger and car ferry, Wightlink,
takes about 30 minutes to make the crossing to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
Bus: The number 7 Southern
Vectis bus from Yarmouth stops near the beach.
