Sandbanks
is a small sandy peninsula with some of the most
expensive houses in the UK, the beach is probably
one of the best in the country and has been awarded
the Blue Flag more times than any other beach in
the UK.
At the end of the peninsula is the Sandbanks
passenger and car ferry that makes the short trip
across the mouth of Poole harbour to Isle of Purbeck
and the Studland beaches.
Other facilities include a new playarea for children
(opened
28 July 2009), Water sports hire
and a crazy golf course.
There is a beach office and Lifeguard
cover from the 1st May through to the 30th September.
Facilities: Restaurant,
ice-cream kiosks and shops.
Bus: The number 50 Wilts&Dorset from
Bournemouth Station to Swanage stops near to the
beach (generally every half hour in the summer).
Parking: There is a car park
next to the beach that holds 550 cars, 5 for disabled
