Camping

Forestry Commission have several
campsites in the New Forest but the ones shown here; Ashurst,
Hollands Wood, Holmsley & Roundhill are campsites
with showers and toilets (Ocknell
just has toilets). Privately run New Forest campsites vary
considerably in the facilities they offer, see the comments
below. |

A
small, family run working farm, with many unusual animals
including: llamas, kune-kune pigs, goats, pony, horse,
water buffalos, donkey and poultry. The campsite overlooks
the sea and there is easy access to their own sandy beach
just below. The site has good facilities and looks well
run, they also have 4 cottages and 12 static caravans.
The coastline along here is beautiful and unspoilt with
some of the best coastal walks in the country; a wide range
of fossils has
been found along this coastline. Above the campsite are
some more magnificent walks along the Downs. One of the
best sandy beaches on the Isle of Wight; Compton
Bay is close by. Freshwater
7 miles. |

| A
large site with many facilities but I had a sense of
being overcrowded, if you're looking for peace and quiet
this site may not be for you. The site fairly close to
several sandy beaches; Highcliffe
beach being the nearest (4
miles), Avon
Beach (5 miles) and Southbourne
beach 7 miles, which has
a blue flag award. Three Toilet Blocks when I visited
were spotlessly clean. |

| The
campsite is run by the same people that run the New Forest
Show and sited in a large grassy field, next to the Open
Forest. This is an excellent location, quiet, ideal for
families, plenty of room for children to play and the
river and Open Forest at the end of the field. Brockenhurst
village is about a 20 minute walk. If you can, take bikes,
there are plenty of trails leading from the field. The
Toilet Blocks were spotlessly clean when visited. |

Beautifully
laid out campsite and well kept, an excellent shop and
two people at the information counter who were very helpful.

looked new and there were two people cleaning whilst
I was there.

of Milford-on-Sea and about 1 mile from the beach |
