Building on the success of last year, the 2010 Lymington Arts Festival will provide a wide spectrum of arts activities during the week of the 14th to the 20th June.

The 2010 Festival has a “solstice,” theme and will encompass a variety of arts activities including; fine art, sculpture, music, theatre, literature, photography, poetry and a diverse selection of crafts.

19 June, Grove Gardens, Lymington 11am to 8pm

The festival will culminate with a free one-day Art-in-the-Park event on Saturday 19th June, at Grove Gardens, in the centre of Lymington. Art-in-the-Park will include a wide variety of arts and music activities including; displays by artists and sculptors; crafts demonstrations of upholstery, floristry, lace and felt making – and many more.

A comprehensive programme of music and dance will be held during the day in four locations. The main stage in Grove Gardens will have a full programme of local musicians, bands and dancers from 11am to 8pm.

An acoustic stage at Lane’s Restaurant will host musicians during the afternoon - and street performances will be staged in the High Street and Angel Courtyard.

Performances will cover a wide range of musical styles including: orchestral, classical, jazz, folk, blues, pop and rock. The festival website has details of all events and activities:

Exhibitions, music and theatre performances, workshops and taster-sessions will be on offer.

Quilting and poetry competitions are open to all age groups and a live performance competition is being held for young musicians.

Local schools will be involved in many of the arts activities. Support from Lymington and Pennington Town Council, and other local business sponsors, means that most events are free or at a nominal charge.
