| Rhinefield House
was originally the site of a keepers’ lodge and it
was one of the nurseryman who in 1859 was responsible for
planting the wonderful collection of trees we see today.
In 1877 Rhinefield was sold
by the Crown to the Walker family. As an engagement present
to their only daughter the family provided enough funds to
build a family home at Rhinefield (now the Rhinefield House
Hotel).
Besides the Giant Redwoods and
Douglas Firs it is well worth a visit
in Spring when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
