The Russell-Cotes
Art Gallery & Museum is housed in a beautiful Victorian villa
on the cliff top over-looking Bournemouth beach.
The rooms inside are full of Victorian
splendour housing
an interesting collection of paintings, ceramics, sculptures and
furniture, and the museum’s Japanese collection is of world-renown.
The seaside villa was the former home of Sir Merton
and Lady Annie Russell-Cotes, who designed it to house their
art collection and objects from their world travels. It was
gifted to the borough in 1908 and opened as a museum in 1922.
Well worth a visit!
