Swanage
Railway currently operates on the 6 miles of track between
Swanage and Norden, through the Isle of Purbeck, passing the
ruins of Corfe Castle.
Swanage Railway also has a museum, located in the converted Goods
Shed at Corfe Castle.
The railway first came to Swanage in 1885 and was
operated by the London & South Western Railway Company. In
January 1972 British Railways closed the line and lifted all
the track. However, this was not the end, as a group of enthusiasts
got together to rebuild the line. In the summer of 1975 a licence
was granted to the Swanage Railway Society to occupy the disused
Swanage station site, since when the volunteers have restored
the railway to what it is today.

You can also take a short

Parking
Car parks are located adjacent to Norden,
Harmans Cross and Swanage stations (charges apply). There is no
car parking at Corfe Castle station or Herston Halt.

Cafe located in
one of the stationary carriages on the platform.
Accessibility
Disabled access is available
to most trains and step-free to all station platforms.
Disabled toilets and baby- changing facilities are only available
at Norden. The nearest disabled toilet to Swanage station is located
on the seafront 400 metres away.
